I have to be grateful for this body; it has given me two beautiful children; it has cushioned my falls, it was given to me in excellent condition, it has allowed me to run, sprint, jump, and overall enjoy life- it still provides me with much support even in light of the abuse I have inflicted. I have not been kind nor have I been grateful. And now, with all these extra pounds that I have demanded to carry around, with the scars and the spots I see on my face, I will be helping my body back, helping by shedding the baggage, the suit of armor that I have so carelessly and mindlessly built. I will be dedicating time and care to this endeavor. I am a true caretaker, but have not taken care of myself and I need to put myself, my health, my body in the fore front. I am also aware that I am an active role model for children (my own and my students) and that this will provide a good example.
Here is how I took care of my body today:
I supplied nutrition in the form of healthy vegetables and fruits, along with flax seeds and flax seed oils. I am questioning dairy and protein intake but feel really good right now. I have a long day ahead of me but I plan on incorporating exercise tomorrow-nothing strenuous, but anything is more than what i am doing now.
I have also maintained a positive attitude throughout this day- I will not neglect my mental health in this work.
